Augurs | 2021

Hanane Hajj Ali and Randa Asmar try to retrace their professional journey, from the moment they have decided to work in theater in the early 80s during the Lebanese civil war. They would love, through their personal and professional souvenirs, to reconstitute the memory of Beirut by retracing the map of the theaters and venues that no longer exist. Throughout the play, they discover that it is almost an impossible act…

“Augurs” questions theater making during the times of the Lebanese civil war through the actors’ relation to theater today. Theater as a space for living a veracious freedom.
